Upper Canyon Update
All runs are still med-high to high, but no longer charging. Quality boating to be had up there! Beware… Carnito Canyon on JW has changed big time. The flake has rolled to the right and the rock in the next drop flushed out and have deposited all over the rest of the rapid. The eddy [...]
A month to remember!

Upper Canyon Report
Flows were high to stomping Saturday. Big South gauge was buried, Spencer was a super stomping 3.5 at 11am (higher by the hour), JW was also stomping, and Little south was at a medium level. There was some swimming involved in JW (oops) and one destroyed boat (not mine) that didn’t have float bags. The [...]
Little South Update
As clean as I’ve seen the run… great level… surging 85/90 on the gauge at the top and splashing over the 2nd marker rock at the bottom. We put on at 6:15… probably close to the daily peak… and ran it in under 2 hours… but if the wheels fall off the wagon in there [...]
Upper Canyon Update
Big South – getting crankier… about 8″ over the top mark now. Joe Wright – still not in yet… but getting closer. Spencer Heights – med-high and starting to juice… run #1 was at 2.7, run #2 at 3.0 on the new gauge… probably much higher by the time we got back to town… very [...]
Upper Canyon Beta
Joe Wright – boat crunching low. Spencer Heights – 2.4 on the new gauge (probably a 3.2 on the old gauge with nothing coming in at Tunnel)… high side of medium and wicked fun. Spencer Wood – There’s a log sticking up 6′ out from left wall 20 yards above the Goal Posts (the first [...]

Spencer Heights Gauge
Folks, there is a new rock gauge on Spencer Heights. It’s located at the top of the pull out beside Boneyard, or just below the bridge downstream from Poudre Falls (on river left). You need to scramble down the bank a bit to find it. So if you’re driving in the upper canyon, please stop, [...]
Warming up this week
80′s in the Fort and no hard freezes on Cameron Tue-Sat. Should get things going. Ben, you’d better tighten those laces…
Log in Middle Narrows
Hey all, paddling the narrows last night Patrick and I noticed a good size log starting to creep dangerously into the green Bridge boof area in Middle Narrows. In fact you could easily hit it or get caught up in it if you were too far right (close to the house size rock). As the [...]
Historic river peaks
Check out the historic river peaks back to 1882… there’s been some monsters … like 25,000 CFS in 1904 (click on the plot to see full size). There are 10 peaks on record larger than ’83… – Reposted from Frenchy’s Poudre Rock Report FB post
Bigger and better than ever before…
What was suspiciously looking like a huge runoff in the making is becoming more of a certainty. We continue to grow the snowpack water content on Cameron Pass to historic highs, and we’re looking at yet another big weather week starting Wednesday. Things should stay cool… pushing the runoff closer and closer to the summer [...]
Pineview ~2 @ 10am
Be warned… the water is COLD… way colder than earlier in the week. The North Fork must be contributing as the Filter Plant looks higher than above the confluence.
Pineview 0.6ft @ 5pm, and rising
It’s starting to respond to the warm temps up high… water looked higher and more discolored in the Gnarrows and Pineview. North Fork is adding some to Filter Plant which looks good to go.
Coming down the pipe
After a remarkable snow year, it’s seems that we could witness a runoff for the ages in the Poudre Canyon this spring… here in your front yard… compare the snowpack water content at Joe Wright (live data), near Cameron Pass for this year to the best of the rest on record (1983). Add to what [...]

Pineview @ 1.5ft @ 5:30pm
Confirmed worthy! Watch for some new wood in the left hand line of Sports Car.
Canyon mouth is now @ 230CFS
This is similar to the 9th/10th Sept when we had 1.5ft @ Pineview.
Upper Canyon releasing ~200CFS
Joe Wright and Longdraw are both releasing about 100CFS. Better get some! Longdraw only started releasing a few hours ago… JJ reported low flows in the upper canyon this morning… I don’t think the Longdraw water will even be at the Big South take out yet, so don’t expect 1.5ft in the Narrows tonight!
Joe Wright @ 95CFS on guage
Release started today… IF it’s passing though Chambers then JW should be in. This should push Pineview back to ~1ft
Pineview @ 1.5 @ 5pm
Tis good to run Gnarrows laps in the warm water. Bridges is also good to go.
Pineview @ ~0.7 @ 6pm Fri
Canyon mouth has zip… but there is still water in the Narrows. Longdraw was releasing 50 yesterday and increased to 80 this morning. Rock should get close to a foot as a result.
log in Carnito, Joe Wright
Found this in the buzz’s obscure “access & safety” board… log in Carnito Thanks Austin!
