Bigger and better than ever before…

May 16, 2011 By frenchy

What was suspiciously looking like a huge runoff in the making is becoming more of a certainty. We continue to grow the snowpack water content on Cameron Pass to historic highs, and we’re looking at yet another big weather week starting Wednesday. Things should stay cool… pushing the runoff closer and closer to the summer heat and the potential for a super high peak. Better go rinse off those dancing shoes…

OK, false alarm on the “game on” post last week. But damn that looked real! Fortunately this stalled-out storm has also come with cold Wx in the high country. Otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this post, I’d be filling sand bags.

Currently 36.7F, misty, drizzly and cold. Forecast for lower canyon:

Today: Areas of drizzle, then a slight chance of rain after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. South southeast wind between 6 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Possibly a bit generous, but I’ll call it 1.4 on a nice cool, grey afternoon.
