Poudre Park Strainer Update

June 19, 2016 By Camp Falbo

I just personally checked out the strainer- it is still in the middle of the run, hooked up on the rock we usually aim for just right of. The strainerIMG_7478 is 20 feet above the Bridge to Nowhere. This is the second bridge in the Poudre Park Run, the one after the Hewlett Gulch Bridge. It is also just above Columbine Lodge.

The strainer is a bit hard to see, as the branches have either broken off, or the log has rotated with the longer branches facing down, upstream. The log is evenly balanced on the rock in the middle of the run, where we normally skirt just to the right of the rock. There is a clear and open channel (as of NOON on June 19, 2016) on the river right. There’s an open area at least 20 feet wide from river right shore to the end of the log. Kayakers can probably go around it river left as well.

Boat Safe! Please don’t attempt to go over (or under) that log.

Pine View High 4.3

June 19, 2016 By Camp Falbo

Quite bouncy at the Rock- a drive by reading could yield a 4.4 or a 4.25- so I’m going with a 4.3+, lol. Currently 75˚F, partly cloudy and calm. Note: all of the readings below were recorded at 0845, and there may be a slight drop now. The Rock report is current to 10 minutes ago.

Strainer Alert- if you have not been following the PRR- there is a significant strainer on the Poudre Park Run just above the Bridge to Nowhere (second bridge in the Poudre Park Run, and just above Columbine Lodge). This strainer appears to be right in the normal route! It has already caught a raft with a seasoned guide.

Enjoy and be safe!

Pine View currently a High 4.4, or low 4.5- still a tad bouncy. Currently 65˚F, sunny and calm.

Looks like the boat that was stuck on the strainer in Poudre Park has safely made it home!

Boat Trapped on Strainer in Poudre Park

June 16, 2016 By Camp Falbo

Strainer in Poudre Park Update (just above the Bridge to Nowhere):

If you all remember the Strainer update posted (gratis Krista E) from a couple days ago- we now have a boat stuck on it. All people involved with that boat had safely made it to shore and the boat will most likely be there until tonight or later.

So, if you’re planning on floating Poudre Park, be aware of a boat stuck in the middle of the run. The Bridge to Nowhere is the bridge just above Columbine Lodge. Pic of Strainer below:
