Rock was wet slightly above 4′ when we drove up this morning, so I suspect it may have peaked at or slightly below 4′ today.

Quite the jump today… if anyone is heading over Cameron tonight, please post a comment here or on the PRR FB page with the big south level (rock gauge under the bridge) and if there is any water in Joe Wright (there’s no gauge.. so rocks not covered, mostly covered or covered and cranking). Thanks!

Yampa River Fest Event Info: June 1-3, 2013

Designed to raise awareness for and protect the 270-mile Yampa River in northwest Colorado, the last remaining major free flowing river in the seven-state Colorado River basin, the event promises a fun-filled weekend for the whole family, with slalom and downriver races, a kids activity zone, freestyle competition, dog events and more.

For complete event details and schedule, go to: http://friendsoftheyampa.com/33rd-annual-yampa-river-fest-june-1-3-2013/

Paddling Life Creek Race Event Info: Mon., June 3, 2013

• 5 p.m.– Middle Fish Creek
One mile of Class IV-V continuous whitewater.

• 7: 30 p.m. Apres Paddle Party Carl’s Tavern
New Belgium Brewery beer, music, food & more

Dear Paddlers:

We’d like to invite you to the Paddling Life Creek Race in Steamboat Springs, Colo., on Monday June 3 at 5 pm on Fish Creek as the wrap-up of the weekend-long Yampa River Festival. The 2- 3-minute course is Class IV/easy V, with a cash purse of $1,800 (Men: $600, $300, $200; W: $400, $200, $100)

The event is positioned to enable you to visit and compete between the Lyons Games and GoPro Vail Games, and post-race party at Carl’s Tavern downtown. Camping is available at Steamboat Campground (970-879-0273) along the Yampa. Registration is onsite at the put-in (registration closes at 4:30 pm) at a cost of $15 per racer. (Please park along Steamboat Blvd., NOT the road leading upstream to the put-in). More info can be found here: http://www.paddlinglife.net/article.php?id=257

There’s no freestyle event this year, just the creek race – which means there’s no splitting of the purse. So spread the word, come on up to race against some of the country’s best, and we hope to see you

For more info, call (970) 870-1376 or email invitational@paddlinglife.net.

For lodging, camping and lodging options abound (Visit www.steamboatsummer.com, 877-286-2628, for information), or visit our host Rabbit Ears Motel, where you can put on the Yampa right outside your door, at (800) 828-7702, 879-1150). And there’s plenty of other great paddling around, from the C-hole right downtown to the Elk River, Willow Creek and Gore and Cross Mountain canyons nearby.
