Camp Falbo is Back on the Report

April 28, 2010 By frenchy

Welcome Boaters and River Enthousiasts, Camp Falbo is back with Rock Report and two “Danger” warnings. The Pine View Rock report for this morning is 0.85 at 0700 this morning. Up from 0.75 at 1900 last night, but I did get a report of 0.9 yesterday morning. Today’s forcast is calling for a high of 73F, partly cloudy and windy. I have seen kayaks on the wather the last two days!

Danger Report:
There are strainers spotted in two named rapids the last few days: one on Disney Rock in Pine View and the other in Mad Dog.

The Disney Rock log was reported to be at a 45 degree angle pointing upstream right against the rock. Last night, Dave Dennis and I scouted the rapid and found the log mostly submerged, but still present right up against the rock at a 70 degree angle pointing upstream. You will not be able so see this log from river level heading down and presents a significant hazard.

The Mad Dog strainer was seen blocking the whole river right passage from Pyramid Rock (at top of rapid) all the way to shore. I saw it on Sunday, but could not see it yesterday. So, either the log has migrated downstream (good), or is submerged in place (bad). I suggest you scout both rapids before running them. Take care and be safe
