Pine View 1.9 at 0630

March 26, 2026 By Camp Falbo

That is NOT a typo. I needed a flashlight this early, so it might be slightly higher or lower, but def just below 2!

Currently 49°, clear skies, with a slight breeze.

Our watershed has officially dropped to below 50% average snow pack. As of this morning every basin in the state is below 50% except the North Platte and Laramie Rives drainage. We are especially hurting in the southwest where the Dolores basin is in the teens.

Let’s all do a rain/snow dance!

Pine View 0.8 at 0630

Goooooooood MORNING Poudre Canyon!

Mother Nature has decided to dust off ye old rock with a little H2O at the bottom. Currently running steady these past 30 hours right around 0.8. Took a flashlight to confirm it’s still there pre-sunrise at 40°F with wispy clouds calmly passing overhead.

Season Update and Forecast here, with a little positive news thrown in.

Statewide- we have the lowest snowpack since 2002 (Hayman Fire), with little to no spring snows relief in sight. We have also just concluded the warmest winter since we started recording that stat… 130 years ago.

Our watershed is sitting at 56% of normal. While the northern watersheds have fared better than our friends to the south, we are all hurting. There seems to be a straight line across the center of our state with the northern basins in the 50s percent of average snowpack, and our neighbors to the south are in the 20’s. Pretty grim.

On the positive side- some anonymous helpful boaters have removed four Channel-Choking strainers in the past few weeks, ranging from Hole 99 down to Mad Dog. We understand there are a ton of blow down from our recent wind events and fires above Rustic. That quagmire seems daunting even to the sharpest sawyer.

Please let us know on our FB page of any known hazards. Please try to be specific on location with either river features or Highway Mike markers, type of strainer and include pictures if you can. We will publish the warnings.

Cheers and Happy Spring.
– your PRR Staff
