We Have a Race!

May 29, 2026 By RMA

Let’s RACE!

Stevens-Down Endurance Race

Thanks to the Forest Service and our local supporters, we are now able to bring back a race on our favorite river. It is late notice, I know, so my apologies go out to everyone; but as the saying goes: “Better race late than no race”, or, something along those lines. It just took a while with a lot of letters, a lot of calling, and a lot of favors.

Anyway…..We have a race!

This event is a combined men’s and women’s heat, short boat race. All boats under 9-ft. can enter whether old or new slicers, creekers, and even play boats if you wish to test you and your boat’s mettle against larger siblings.

Meet-up is 11:00AM at the Poudre Park Community Center for sign-ups, grouping, and shuttle.

Do not park near or at the Fire Department which is next door. CC has parking space in front and back; and parking along Poudre River Road is acceptable—just don’t block driveways.

BYO food and drink; bottled water and snacks provided. The CC has refrigerators and stove tops. No alcohol, please.

Launch begins at 2:00PM.

Post-race meet-up is same place, around 5:00-6:00PM for results and awards. Everyone will get something.

Volunteers needed as safety boaters, timing crew, photographer and admin stuff. Email your interest to canyonpaddlers@yahoo.com.

For pre-registration and other particulars, visit our website

The race is performed in strict accordance with the Canyon Lakes RD, Acting Forest Service stipulations. Give them a shout out for granting permission to have the race and possible future events.

Brought to you by:  Canyon Paddlers Association

Support Team:  Rocky Mountain Adventures, Poudre Paddlers, American Canoe Association, Poudre Park Community Center, and the Canyon Lakes RD.
