Fort Collins Whitewater Park is up for budget consideration!

June 4, 2014 By frenchy

Good News about the Fort Collins Whitewater Park effort! A lot of hard work has gone into convincing the City that we need this in our town. A big thank you to each and every person that wrote emails to cityleaders@fcgov.com, talked with city leaders, and/or otherwise got the word out and showed your support for it.

As a result of all of the hard work, the whitewater park is officially up for budget consideration for 2015 and 2016! We now need your help with getting it fully approved. Please go this website:

Proposed services for 2015-2016: 2015-2016 budget: City of Fort Collins

Select the “Green” button on item 21.1 if you approve the Poudre River Downtown Project, which includes the whitewater park. Clicking the description will show a “kayak park” as item 4 in the list of improvements. The total cost described in the description include building the park, the hardscaping, and other land improvements for the entire section between College and the BNSF railway.

You can select 5 green lights, and 5 red lights, then submit your comments below and click Submit.

Thanks for your time, please visit us at Poudre Whitewater Park for the latest as well as to show your support.

Reminder: Downtown River Project Open House February 27 5:30-7:30pm

February 26, 2014 By frenchy

Just a reminder that Thursday night (tonight/tomorrow depending on when you read this!) is the City’s open house for the Downtown River Project.

Please come and view the preliminary Master Plan for the project, see where the two whitewater features will be placed, and show your support for the park and project. If you can’t attend, please contact the city council and voice your support! Your support has gotten us this far, please keep it up so we can make sure it comes to fruition!

What: Fort Collins Downtown River Project Open House
Where: The Lincoln Center, 417 W Magnolia St, Fort Collins, CO 80521
When: Thursday, February 27th, 2014, any time between 5:30-7:30

We need to continue to show council how important this is to our community. The best way to do that is to attend the open house event for this project. While you’re there you will get to see what the City has planned for the potential whitewater park as well as the rest of the downtown river corridor restoration. Most importantly, you can give your feedback on the Preliminary Master Plan of the project.

More information on how to find your representative as well as sample letters are available on the “Support the Park” page on the Whitewater Park site:

http://www.poudrewhitewaterpark.com

Thank you for your support and be sure to contact City Council with your thoughts and hopefully support either in person or in writing!

Downtown River Project Open House February 27 5:30-7:30pm

February 21, 2014 By frenchy

Great news! The preliminary Master Plan for the Downtown River Project contains a whitewater park with at least two features! But we still need to make sure it passes the City Council vote this May.

To aid in this, please try to attend the open house the City is having to answer questions about the Downtown River Project. If you can’t attend, please contact the city council and voice your support! Your support has gotten us this far, please keep it up so we can make sure it comes to fruition!

We want to pack this room full of river enthusiasts. City Council members will likely be present at the event, they are always looking to see how much interest there is from their constituents.

If you cannot attend, please send an email to your representative. More information on how to find your representative as well as sample letters are available on the “Support the Park” page on the Whitewater Park site:
